The Throbbing Thought
Tha Thump Tha Thump Tha Thump… Echoes faintly through my chest
Tha thump tha thump tha… Hands scramble to feel the beat through my breast
Eyes wide, there’s a shortness of breath
The blood drains from my body as I rise up in bed
“Not tonight Lord! Please don’t let me die tonight…”
Is whispered from a heart filled with fright
My head spins as I stare into the night
The returned beat lets me know that everything’s alright
Tha Thump Tha Thump Tha Thump… Echoes faintly through my chest
Tha thump tha thump tha… I awake again with hands clenching over my breast
Like before I experience a shortness of breath
Blood still drained, skin now cold, I’m up again in bed
I text a few night owls hoping to calm my nerves
My last thought before I fell asleep being, “What a Mighty God we serve.”
