Fly
To freedom
With paper-thin wings
Of gossamer - lace
And shame

Run,
From life,
From
Troubles, from
Toil, until you

Yearn to come
Back
To see, hear
Smell, and touch
Again

Fly, then, from all you have
Ever attained
On gossamer wings,
On petal-like
Clouds

Of hopes
And dreams
Fly – or run -
Or walk – find yourself
In a place with no

Expectations, no
Disappointments
No
Disillusions, no
Care in the world

If that is what you search for,
Fly,
To freedom –
And from the sweet taste of
Victory

Fly away,
On
Gossamer wings
And petal-like
Clouds.

Thank you! That's how I wanted most of the poem to feel, except the parts about the guilt - it's a bit of a conflict :)

This is amazing. I love your imagery of flying away on gossamer wings. You did an amazing job of describing a feeling perfectly with very few words. It makes me feel very free- like I'm about to fly away. I love how the title gives a small hint to what the subject of the poem is flying away from. Amazing job!
