Vacation Breeze
Lazy sloths and monkeys hanging in trees
Clear waters, a refuge from humid air.
Waterfalls, volcanoes; scorching degrees
Pura Vida! Nothing else can compare
One day seems like a long time as I wait.
Waiting for vacation is such the pain
My planner has an X to mark the date
Every second shackles me in a chain
Holiday is tomorrow, time to pack
Have compassion Father Time, move quickly
My trip’s Eve keeps me awake in night’s black
Finally, the morning lights my room dimly
Pura Vida there’s animals that roam
I blink and I’ve already returned home.

Time flies. From my experience, waiting for something fun, like a vacation, always takes forever, but the actual event passes by in the blink of an eye. A character in this sonnet waits eagerly for the day she will depart. She yearns for stunning natural surroundings. She is eagerly anticipating the day, but when it finally arrives, she regrets how fast her vacation came to an end.
