Can we try?
If you listen, you'll hear me.
But if you yell
It'll be hard to tell
What makes me feel this way.
If only you could believe that I'm not just saying things-
I need you to understand that you and I can change this thing-
No more arguing over silly things
You and I could die tomorrow
So let's stop acting like we have time to borrow
Time isn't forever
Because no one will live forever to count, or make it count
The flaws we feel bring us down,
One day will bring us up from the ground.
Pieces, BROKEN pieces, that shattered at your feet- won't help you....
And me, I cry everytime you leave-
But that doesn't mean you have to stay
The reason I cry so much, is that I feel loved, and without you, I can't feel that way.
I need to know if we're going to try tonight,
Because I can't see the light- through all of the night
Will you fill my body up with might-
Because my own continues to hide.
Let's fix this, because as you can see....
The reason things mess up-
Is because when you leave
You leave angry because I make you feel guilty for leaving me.
But I'll work on loving myself. I'll work on taking care of myself.
I'll work on watching you grow, as I grow- myself.
So can we...try... please?

This song was inspired by Lauryn Hill's Ex-factor.
It's about admiting what went wrong in the past of your relationship and accepting your role in it. What made you guilty, and what made your partner guilty. It's about being emotionally honest about it. It's about saying "I'll do what I have to do to fix this."
