Remember When We Found Dirty Underwear in Your Backyard?
I sometimes wonder why we’re still friends
Despite everything that happened in the end
I sometimes count the letters that were sent
And cry over time that was never well spent
We lived close for a number of years
And cried so hard on a puddle of tears
I’ll try to call your number again
And I’ll open my notebook and pick up a pen
Then I’ll ask God to keep that tree alive
And search for a sign that this friendship was no lie
I know I’m gone
And this is just a song
But it’s one I wrote
It’s one I love the most
It’s been a while since I’ve seen your face
Part of me wants to keep it that way
I have no idea what I’ve become
Writing rubbish and poems of love
I’ll go outside and I’ll look at the sky
I’ll start to scream with all of my might
Then I’ll ask God to keep that tree alive
And search for a sign that this friendship was no lie
I know I’m gone
And this is just a song
But it’s one I wrote
It’s one I love the most
I’ll never forget you my dear
Your eyes are still very clear
I hope I see you again
Even if it’s just to shake your hand
And call you a friend
You’ve always been there for me
Do me a favor and don’t give up on your dreams
I’ll ask God to keep that tree alive
And search for a sign that this friendship was no lie
I know I’m gone
And this is just a song
But it’s one I wrote
It’s one I love the most
It’s one I wrote
It’s one I love the most
