Covered
Most people are good at keeping
Secrets and all of their
Feelings penned up inside
But that’s where I differ
I can’t go through life
Leaving things unsaid
I need to let you know how I really feel
One of my downfalls is that I’m not good
At keeping my feelings covered
Every day you waltz into the room
Leaving all of your emotions behind you
Lay it all out on the table for everyone to judge
Never afraid of what people think
Because you’re the one that’s going to go somewhere
Leaving the cynics behind
What I hope you find someday
Is that while you’re out living your life
The bullies will be stuck behind reliving
The best days of their life
When they ruled the school
The funny thing is those years
Are only a stepping stone
To what your life will consist of later on
One of my downfalls
Is that I’m not good
At keeping my feelings covered
Underneath your normal exterior
You’re a beautiful masterpiece
Filled with colors so bright
And I just hope you know
How much I love you
For all of your differences
Like the flecks of gold
In your brown eyes
The way that you talk to everybody that you meet
And most importantly for the way that you love me
Our whole society is based on normalcy
And being the perfect
Cutout but you defied the odds
And dared to be different
The look on their faces when you told the world
How you really feel
Like a deer in headlights
You realize that you’ve finally left them speechless
This is a rare sight because they always get the last word
You finally proved that you’re better than them
Because you don’t have to keep your feelings inside
One of my downfalls
Is that I’m not good
At keeping my feelings covered
The day will come when we’ll break
Through these walls that were put up
To hold us back and our feelings won’t be silent anymore
They’ll be uncovered

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities."<br /> --Dr. Seuss
