Words From the Wise
He never fit in
Parents always asking why he had no friends
So one day he tries to make all that end
He goes up to the so called "cool" kids
They just laugh and roll their eyelids
He begs, so they say meet at the park
Saturday night, it's midnight pitch dark
He waited to make sure his parents were asleep without a doubt
Before he decided it was okay to sneak out
He walks down the lonely street
The only sound is his Nike's on the concrete
He sees the guys about a hundred feet
Away by the trees
Goosebumps on his arms, but it's not chilly
They tell him there is initiation before he can be part of the crew
With confidence he asks, "What do I have to do?"
One kid rolls a blunt then takes a huff
Everyone else does the same
And when it's passed to him he hesitates
But he knows this is how he proves he's cool enough
So he puts it in his mouth, he knows it's wrong, but takes a puff
Another one, there goes another one
Peer pressure, drinking, and drugs
Consume the children
Some not even old enough to drive
But they drink and they get high
Thinking that's how it feels the be alive
They are wrong- that's the word from the wise
After the blunt is done they pull out Snow White
Doing line after line so he decides to take a snuff
Then he takes another and decides that's enough
This is his first time and he doesn't want to do too much
The guys are impressed and decide he is in
He's feeling like he was in the championship and got the win
Now the drugs and confidence have gone to his head
He's feeling tough
On his way home he sees a homeless guy
Beats him up, steals his stuff
While he is running down the street the cops pick him up
He cuts through yards, but is chased down and tased by the sheriff
He's only 15, back of the car in handcuffs
They put him in a cell
Drug test him, but they can already tell
that he's high
They call his parents to the station
They're wandering how in the world out of every kid in the nation
That they're kid is in jail
What caused him to stray from the righteous trail
Their son was just trying to break out his shell
But he fell
Another one, there goes another one
Peer pressure, drinking, and drugs
Consume the children
Some not even old enough to drive
But they drink and they get high
Thinking that's how it feels the be alive
They are wrong- that's the word from the wise
