The Last Great Uprising
We've kept our coffins stained
With the impurities of guilt
Sheltered from prosperity and light
And brought down by the families we've built
Generations passed through waters of deceit
And to carry on this dying plague of memories
It's not the bitter recourse that gave me my receit
But the snapshot picture of my suffering that got the best of me
You clasp your hands together, like a prayer of serenity
But will your God offer you the wisdom you are searching for?
You may change the unacceptable, you may shelter your extremities
But when your change is not quite what you've sought
Was it somehow more than you have bargained for?
The rain may fall on the starstruck city of human ignorance
But when the ignorant gather together they can fell even mighty dragons
They lead our nation through vengeance from fury
Conquest from strife and bitterness
Ruin through war, despair through death, has your outlook blackened?
But it can't rain forever, says the wise yet melancholic crow
In our sincerest beliefs, the wars shall not be waged by blood and guts
We all stand at the ready, blood adorning lands of sun or snow
Because even the most polished firearm is subject to a little rust
We'll march on in the aesthetics of defiance as message to them all
That the first ones to start the riots will not be the last ones to fall
And if we have to carry the hearses high above our heads
We'll know they did not die in vain, and fought for something beautiful instead.
Politicians make their speeches from talking out of the sides of their mouths
Because in an ocean filled with twisted lies soon becomes all you'll ever know
But an enticing vernacular can be such keep your petty interests aroused
And what's the point of you sticking up for your country
When even all your principles haven't come to enjoy the aftershow
Mankind will be destroyed by the very fires they discovered in the past
In a cave or in the woods, we discovered fire created life
Now we have burned bridges for millenia between our fellow man
And just like Waldo I can't find any dedicated enthusiasts
The traitors claim to fight like soldiers but scurry on like rats and mice
We'll carry on, we'll carry on and keep marching in this freezing rain
With letter "A"s tattooed on our backs and imprinted on our clothes
Because the movement is always heartfelt when you have sheltered all this pain
So we toughen up the ranks with resistance, inspirational speeches and ya know,
Sometimes the going gets tough, and it may get a little rough
But the fires are cold and black and on our backs there is a symbol
Always worth fighting for
And until our dying day you may always misunderstand
But this is where passion never dies, and this is all that matters most to us,
You'll face the wrath of a thousand lightning storms
If you try and trample over us.
We'll march on in the aesthetics of defiance as message to them all
That the first ones to start the riots will not be the last ones to fall
And if we have to carry the hearses high above our heads
We'll know they did not die in vain, and fought for something beautiful instead. (repeated until fade)
