To Dance
To stand alone in a crowded room with nothing to do
But desperately long to slip away and hide in the rain
That's pouring outside; it's heavy tonight.
To walk where no one can see me
Let these tears fall with the rain, then join them the same.
But the colors outside of autumn at night are making me want to say
Dance with me in the rain filled streets, and sing to me a sweet melody.
And turn up loud that voice deep down that's calling out to be heard.
To close the door to the dry world behind, let it go from my mind
The things they say, the nonsense they speak. Words not meant for me
But I hear them just fine. Their world isn't mine
And my voice is lost in the silence.
My need to be known is so scarce indeed, it's hardly a need.
But the thunder outside won't fill me tonight, now I'm needing you.
So dance with me in the rain filled streets, and sing to me a sweet melody.
When I close my eyes I'll still see you tonight, smiling and calling me yours.
So dance with me in the rain filled streets, and sing to me a sweet melody.
And turn up loud that voice deep down that's calling out to be heard.
