I'm so tired of pulling at the weeds
that are growing in my soul
for once I'd like to let them grow
maybe I'll pluck a flower instead

I have everything I could ever want and more
but the million piece puzzle
is miss a thousand or so
little bits that make a person whole

I need some electricity
I'm running on candle light
tossing around a flickering glow
and the candles are burning low

I'm so tired of pulling at the weeds
that are growing in my soul
for once I'd like to let them grow
maybe I'll pluck a flower instead

I am alphabetized, color coded
and still disorganized
if I could tear all the books from the shelves
I'd start over and make the same mistakes

when you're perfect you can't show
the ache inside your heart
you don't let anyone see
you need to feel something to know

if you are even still alive

I'm so tired of pulling at the weeds
that are growing in my soul
for once I'd like to let them grow
maybe I'll pluck a flower instead
