Damage Control
This is something physical, this is something new
This is why I seat it out when I lay eyes on you
Baby, can’t you feel the heat coming from my skin?
Please don’t let me be the only one who does me in
‘Cause in the end, in the plain sight, when you work it out in black and white
I end up doing damage control; I just can’t keep my whole heart whole
I daydream how I’ll raise the bar, but I will never get that far
If I keep doing damage control
I’m sorry if your heart’s no longer whole
If you’re stunned and unsure, I apologize
I forget when lightning strikes, it take you by surprise
When you think you’re in the safest place that you can be
If the storm did damage, I won’t care if you hate me
‘Cause in the end, in the plain sight, when you work it out in black and white
I end up doing damage control; I just can’t keep my whole heart whole
I daydream how I’ll raise the bar, but I will never get that far
If I keep doing damage control
I’m sorry if your heart’s no longer whole
Maybe this whole thing was an imaginary crisis
I never thought that I could ruin something like this
Something gorgeous, powerful, that no one could deny
I guess if I can’t fix this, I will have to let “us” die
‘Cause in the end, in the plain sight, when you work it out in black and white
I end up doing damage control; I just can’t keep my whole heart whole
I daydream how I’ll raise the bar, but I will never get that far
If I keep doing damage control
I’m sorry if your heart’s no longer whole
