Chilled
Crack a smile
Force a laugh
It may be dry but no one notices
With a quick flip of hair
She may be blinking back tears
Swallowing the sorrowful tide
That’s threatening to overtake her pride
Living every day in survival mode has taken its toll
On a warrior queen trying to spread her wings
She continues to silently sing
Always growing green in a field of envy
In her head she knows that she’s loved
And that she has a home to turn to
But in her heart she feels that these streets
Just aren’t paved with gold
Cold words shot like bullets make her
Shiver just as much as her victims do
Bored glares and degrading stares are
All her eyes have mastered through the years of
Being better than her
So called friends
Tell me can you call yourself
Somebody’s friend when
They bend over backwards to be
What you want them to
And you’ve never been a true friend to them
Living every day in survival mode has taken its toll
On a warrior queen trying to spread her wings
She continues to silently sing
Always growing green in a field of envy
In her head she knows that she’s loved
And that she has a home to turn to
But in her heart she feels that these streets
Just aren’t paved with gold
What’s it gonna take
To bring some sunshine to her parade
What’s it gonna be
Live life as a cruel and
Mean young thing
Or grow and mature into
Somebody stronger
Maybe one of these days she’ll see
That angry isn’t what
This life ought to be
Living every day in survival mode has taken its toll
On a warrior queen trying to spread her wings
She continues to silently sing
Always growing green in a field of envy
In her head she knows that she’s loved
And that she has a home to turn to
But in her heart she feels that these streets
Just aren’t paved with gold

let it burn, suffering teaches the soul; let it grow, love nourishes the heart.
Once again, a very vibrant work of art. I can apprecaite fully the beauty of what you have written. This song speaks true to those who have been where you have been, and I have been there, oh yes I have been there.
