Jadey's Song
Looking on the outside
You can go ahead and see me as you want to
Go ahead and paint a picture in your mind of whom
You think I am
Looking into your eyes
I can tell that you are not truly seeing mine
And I know that maybe it'd be best for me to keep my reality to myself
So you, can, think that I'm perfect
Go, ahead, I give you permission
I, don't mind, it's nice to know that in somebody's
Eyes I can be better than my best
But tell me would you pass the ultimate test?
If I were to break down and shatter your image
Would you stick around and hold me close to your chest?
Would you stick around and tell me that you love me?
Would you stick around and would it be so easy
To watch me cry after all the time you’ve spent
Thinking that I don't have a tear to spare
Or would seeing my humanity be too much for you to bear
Living in the shadow of who I know
People see me to be
You should know that it gets tiring living
Up to all my given perfect imperfections
Being great at everything and knowing that
Just by speaking one word I can
Make you feel down and bad about yourself
Can't you tell that I am not the person you should be clinging emotionally to
How could I bother with remembering your fragile feelings
When I don't even have my own heart and mind in check yet
So you, can, think that I'm perfect
Go, ahead, I give you permission
I, don't mind, it's nice to know that in somebody's
Eyes I can be better than my best
But tell me would you pass the ultimate test
If I were to break down and shatter your image
Would you stick around and hold me close to your chest
Would you stick around and tell me that you love me
Would you stick around and would it be so easy
To watch me cry after all the
Time you've spent thinking that I don't have a tear to spare
Or would seeing my humanity be too much for you to bear
Who decided
To appoint me as Superwoman
I don't remember ever asking for a cape
Of your insecurities to be
Placed on my shoulders
And who decided
To make breaking through to me a project
Instead of trying to tear down my walls why not
Figure out why they're here
Maybe then they can become transparent
Be a friend to me and maybe then you'll be
Able to see through to the
Me whose been staring out
Somebody reach in
Somebody feed me
A reason to come out of my
Decorated shell
I sure as hell didn't
Want to trap myself
Life made me do it
You made me do it
Now I'm waiting on somebody to come and
Figure me out
See through my walls
Climb over them and
I will run to you
I will even give being accepting a try
Once you learn I'm not perfect
Once you understand that I'm no better than
Anybody else then you could find and share with me the way I'm supposed to
Rescue me from my
Self
