Comets
They said I was trouble
You said you were, too
They put up walls against me
And you crashed right through
I gave you a chance
To get out of this mess
You wanted to save me
You’re doing your best
And I don’t know how
You can be this way
You have a real life
So why’d you stay?
It’s like seeing two comets crash and collide
And while my life’s a river, I’m fighting the tide
I used to be hopeless, used to let myself drown
But now I’ve got you here, I’m coming around
You’re wasting all you’ve got
On a lost cause like me
I’m trapped in my own cage
Watching you fly out free
We’re running out of time
On a stretched out life line
The threads could come loose
Any day now, love
It’s like seeing two comets crash and collide
And while my life’s a river, I’m fighting the tide
I used to be hopeless, used to let myself drown
But now I’ve got you here, I’m coming around
I know I’ve been living
This way for a while
But everything’s shifting
Whenever you smile
The sunrise is coming
The stars disappear
The end is collapsing
The beginning is here
There’s a reason the waters
Are clearing away
And I’m sticking around now,
Day after day
You are the secret
I don’t want to hide
I can’t keep myself from you,
I’ve tried and I’ve tried
It’s like watching two comets crash and collide
And while my life’s a river, I’m fighting the tide
I used to be hopeless, used to let myself drown
But now I’ve got you here, I’m coming around
You feel like a limelight
I feel like the stage
The script is our story,
We’re turning the page
The play’s not a tragedy,
But it’s cutting close
It’s about us, and a river,
A storm and a boat
You want to keep hoping,
While everything’s right,
You cling to the daytime,
I wait for the night
It’s like watching two comets crash and collide
And while my life’s a river, I’m fighting the tide
I used to be hopeless, used to let myself drown
But now I’ve got you here, I’m coming around
You won’t give up on me
That’s how it goes
I’ll give you all I have
I need you to know
The only good thing
In those years
I pretended I was alive
Was you coasting along with me
On this never-ending ride
It’s like watching two comets collide
And while my life’s a river, I’m fighting the tide
Still seeing the comets
Collide
