"Poetry and art are when you take decades of thought and condense it into a nifty little portable carrying case that people can see and go 'Oooh, Ahh'... and then forget about it. But what does it matter, so long as YOU remember it?" ~ Bela

Au contraire, au contraire,
this is not just the end.
Play a smile for me dear,

newly penned.

Play it well, play it well,
lose me naught but a note.
I'll sing a smile for you dear,

heart as wrote.

Once it stops, it will never start again.

Still, until then, we bide our time,

they get in line to hear our souls
cry out for remembrance,

deliverance

and sorrow unfolds...

Still it seems, still it seems
that a pause marks an end
that our last rasping breaths

cannot mend.

And at last, and at last,
I can hear every note
as I sing for you darling...

heart as wrote.

The author's comments:
This is not exactly song lyrics, but it is inspired by music, and the odd flow of it is meant to make you THINK of music. It reads much better in your head than it does out loud, so humor me and read it silently.

The layout has a purpose, but it made the poem too wide to fit properly. Try copying/pasting it into a word document at a small font, and it should paste in the proper format, if you really want to see it properly.

I can see myself humming this, it has a lullaby feel to it.... it's beautiful and genuine.
