"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep." -Robert Frost

The fear is rendered static,
It’s all automatic,
Now.
I’ve climbed out of the pit,
I can finally see the summit somehow,
I survived the icy waves and the occupied caves,
The pounding rain and the treacherous graves.
I’ve made it to land,
Propelled by their reprimand.

Prior to the perks of metamorphosis,
I’ll admit that I didn’t make any lists,
At all.
They told me I was destined to just,
Fall.
But the idea of being nothing didn’t sit well with me.
I can’t bear to be caged I need to be free
I had to find my wings and fly
I jumped from the nest,
It was time to do or die.

The fear is rendered static,
It’s all automatic,
Now.
I’ve climbed out of the pit,
I’m nearly at the summit somehow.
I’ve played the jester but never the king,
Now the stars fly by me as I swing,
From dream to dream,
I can see the crown’s gleam.

As I reach for the impossible,
My familiars smile and claim it was them,
All along.
But the idea of being owned didn’t sit well with me,
I turned and smiled in a chimerical glee,
And there I declared,
My glory would never be theirs.

The fear is rendered static,
It’s all automatic,
Now.
I’ve climbed out of the pit,
I’ve finally reached the summit somehow,
They thought I’d be killed or caught,
But it doesn’t matter what they thought,
I’ve swam the rivers and scaled the fjords,
Now they name me Lord of Lords,
And here I stand,
Immune to all their reprimand.
