"According to some, heroic deaths are admirable things. (Generally those who don't have to do it. Politicians and writers spring to mind.) I've never been convinced by this argument, mainly because, no matter how cool, stylish, composed, unflappable, manly, or defiant you are, at the end of the day you're also dead. Which is a little too permanent for my liking." — Jonathan Stroud (Ptolemy's Gate)

Remember the good old days
When nights were long and summers sweet
And you and me
Were more than faded memories

Living out future ‘remember whens’
And thinking it would never end
Yeah It’s fun to think of ‘could-have-beens’
But the cold fact is they’re all past tense

Stupid moves and near escapes
Laughing at past escapades
‘You-really-did-that’s’ and
‘Remember way back’s’ and
And reliving things you wouldn’t believe
But now I’m just clinging to the memories
And thinking ‘bout things that will never be.

Remember the younger days
When we didn’t get scared and wouldn’t be beat
And you and me
Were as fearless as anyone could be

Going further than ever before
We’d of laughed at the stoop of death’s own door
And told friends about it forever more
Never had a chance to get bored

Stupid moves and near escapes
Laughing at past escapades
‘You-really-did-that’s’ and
‘Remember way back’s’ and
And reliving things you wouldn’t believe
But now I’m just clinging to the memories
And thinking ‘bout things that will never be.

Remember those simple days
Our friendship despite the views of society
And you and me
Were as close as any two could be

When the line between friendly and weird was hazed
You and me trying to find our way
Treading water, pushing against the grain
Learning about life the hard way

Stupid moves and near escapes
Laughing at past escapades
‘You-really-did-that’s’ and
‘Remember way back’s’ and
And reliving things you wouldn’t believe
But now I’m just clinging to the memories
And thinking ‘bout things that will never be.

Yeah it’s all become memory
But has it only happened to me?
I think not – now I see
Just as morning comes and you forget your dreams
Perhaps a brighter day has come, a brighter sun beams
And we can make better memories
Just you and me

Thanks so much! And that's kind of what it's about for me.  Memories are always bittersweet. :)

Yeah, I agree with the other comments on this one.  Really, really good.  The parts that were striongest for me were the first 3 stanzas, the refrain, and the last stanza.  The rest of the song didn't click as much with me, but those parts were really spectacular.  5 stars, no question about it.  This deserves a favorite on my part.  oh, and just so you know, I also favorited 'skipped a beat.'

"Live your art" -made this one up myself. Simple, but true.

AWWWW. I love it! If I hear this on the radio I'll squeal! It reminds me of all the people I've been friends with who moved away. It makes me want to pull out my old school albums and flip through the pictures from the past few years.

Thanks a million!  It's country too - my favorite style. :)  I'm not very musical, so it doesn't have much of a tune so far, but I'm working on it! :D

See lyrics to "Let the Waters Rise" by MIKESCHAIR and "Everything" by Lifehouse

"Living out future ‘remember whens’"

That line is perfect, and I absolutely love it. Obviously, I haven't heard the music to accompany this song, but the lyrics sound radio-worthy. Out of curiosity, what style is it?
