Live The Life You Have Imagined
From the darkness of the sky,
To the claustrophobia laced crowds,
The fluorescent images of the world
Have never screamed so loud.
The tree’s arms block the street lamp,
My only source of light,
As the city’s bulbs all flicker out
And leave me blinded by the night.
In a world that never sleeps,
And a sleep that never ends,
When will we finally recognize?
When will the show begin?
‘Cause we tell ourselves, and tell ourselves:
“Go to sleep, we’re all okay.”
And pray with our last conscious thoughts
We’ll see the light of a new day.
A social riot runs full force,
But stops not once to think:
“Is this world I hate the world I made?
Do these horrors belong to me?”
The truth, it is a painful thing.
Sometimes our eyes just cannot see;
But it’s always there, hidden yet clear,
As only truth can be.
In a world that never sleeps,
And a sleep that never ends,
When will we finally recognize?
When will the show begin?
‘Cause we tell ourselves, and tell ourselves:
“Go to sleep, we’re all okay.”
And pray with our last conscious thoughts
We’ll see the light of a new day.
We are nothing but a disease,
A warning and a threat.
But what we are, we still can cure;
There is always some hope left…
So forget the treachery you’ve been told.
Your brainwashed thoughts have grown so old.
Blow the haze away from your eyes,
And see every word they speak is a lie!
We are a world that never sleeps,
We are a sleep that never ends…
‘Cause we tell ourselves, and tell ourselves:
“Get some rest, we’re all okay.”
And know with our last conscious thoughts
We can make this world a better place.

THE TITLE comes from the quote by Henry David Thoreau: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
It is my favorite quote, definitely.
Oh, haha, I just now saw this comment =O
I'm sorry for taking so long...*shame*
But anyway, I really appreciate your commentingness!!!
Thank you very much!!! :3
my bad attempt at a song. It's an even WORSE attempt at a Rise Against-like song.
I try, people, but I'm no lyricist. (Is that the right word?)
Errr...if you want to sing it for some crazy reason, I imagined it with a mixture of Heaven Knows and Generation Lost tunes (both songs by Rise Against)...so, yeah. Haha I really mustn't have any originality :P
"I see myself inside you, you dream the dreams that I do..."
<3
(That's from Heaven Knows, by the way.)
