The Loneliness of a Fallen Star
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star:
As I lie here watching you
Shining up there in the blue,
How I wonder how you are,
shining high up there so far:
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star.
I have lain here for so long,
Listening to the shining song
Of stars, dancing way up high.
The little diamonds in the sky.
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star:
As I lie here watching you
Shining up there in the blue,
How I wonder how you are,
shining high up there so far:
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star.
No more can time that passes tell,
From where, or when, or how I fell
From home, among the stars that sing.
Higher than the birds on wing.
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star:
As I lie here watching you
Shining up there in the blue,
How I wonder how you are,
shining high up there so far:
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star.
It seems the more I gaze, I want.
For faces I once knew still haunt
My dreams, the once place I am home;
Where hopes and wishes freely roam.
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star:
As I lie here watching you
Shining up there in the blue,
How I wonder how you are,
shining high up there so far:
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star.
Still I wander, still I wait
For that one, which we call fate
To come, and maybe I can go
Back to the place I used to know.
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star:
As I lie here watching you
Shining up there in the blue,
How I wonder how you are,
shining high up there so far:
Twinkling, Twinkling Little Star.
Or maybe if I look around,
I’ll realize that I have found
Myself, here in this foreign land.
For friends are here to take my hand.
So “farewell,” Twinkling Little Star:
Though I still remember you,
I have other things to do,
Than to wonder how you are.
I am doing fine so far:
“Farewell, Twinkling Little Star.”
