April 2
Here we wait at the starting of the first base
Who are we to wonder –
And how is this to take place?
Every day I wake up
To ask why, and get by
And wait for you to follow
You and me, one day we’ll get it right
Here we wait and sit and savor
Waiting for a drag with flavor
Paper trains and plastic neighbors
Watch and wave from weary labors
At the center of the first place
Squared out faking –
Who are we to blame now?
In the middle of our third world
Strung out, shaken –
What are we to take now?
Dope to smoke and pills to swallow
“Patience” ain’t your favorite motto
Why’s the rushing to go out?
What’s the rush just to blow out?
Me and you, we’ll learn to set it right
So here we are
At the center of attention
Played out, taken –
Who are we to hate now?
Every day we wake up
And get high, and look by
And we try
To get by
And wait for it to follow
