Lubbock, Texas

I passed the liquor stores on my way outta town.
Trying to drown out your name, in the voices in the crowd.
Why does it hurt so much?
Why do the lights remind me of you?
I'm not turning around, because it won't bring back you.

I'm drinking my way out of the dry city limits.
Heading south on 87, thinking you're still in it.
Turning up the radio, hoping I made no mistake.
Lubbock in my rear view is all I can take.

I hope this isn't a circus and you're just putting on a show.
I hope this isn't the end, but somethings gotta go.
I've never seen anything bigger than the Lubbock sky.
But I've never seen myself leave and make such a torn (girl) boy cry.
Baby cry.

I'm drinking my way out of the dry city limits.
Heading south on 87, thinking you're still in it.
Turning up the radio, hoping I made no mistake.
Lubbock in my rear view is all I can take.

When I come back, I don't wanna think about everything we had.
And it all flash backs, to that night by that dried up lake.
When everything was so real, not an emotion you could fake.

I'm drinking my way out of the dry city limits.
Heading south on 87, thinking you're still in it.
Turning up the radio, hoping I made no mistake.
Lubbock in my rear view is all I can take.

FYI for people that don't know, LUBBOCK, TEXAS... home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders!.. I was driving home from the Tech football game one night, and i just started singing this song... I have never had this particular experience happen to me. As you drive out of the town, there are Liquor stores lined up for a couple of miles with all these fancy lights and stuff... Thats what I thought about, and I really wanted to incorporate that into the song... It sounds like a college love story. I love it!
