The Story of My Heart
Once upon my broken heart with the tears falling like rain
I fell into the green that is your eyes and the arms that hid the pain
I ran in the darkness of the night that fell around me like a dream
I walked on the beach, under the stars that are closer than they seem
I made the sun shine brighter with my new-found, beautiful smile
I made you laugh and the red rose on your cheeks when I asked you to stay a while.
Once upon my patchwork heart with eyes so full of life
I took to the skies and floated on clouds, perhaps just like a kite
I watched blue lights dance in the sky as the world went rushing by
I laughed and smiled and touched the moon in the deep midnight sky
I stared into the sunset and let the light shine from my soul
I let the words fill the space between us until I soon felt whole
Once upon my perfect heart with friends to hold my hand
I heard the waves of the beach at high tide and felt the tickle of the sand
I knew in my heart that you were there and I could feel myself fly
I felt so beautiful all because I knew that as time goes by
Boys don't last forever but friendship hold strong and true
I've changed my ways, I've seen the stars, it makes me feel brand new
Once upon my broken heart with tears falling like rain
I feel into the green that is your eyes and the arms that hid the pain
