Jester
Jester
Body 1:
Putting all the make-up on your face
In the mirror you smile
While your heart breaks
You throw on your costume
And your silly hat
Time to please the royal king
With a dancing monkey act
Come to the throne room
Crack out your jokes
Like a vending machine
Smile and begin to dance
When you want to burn their jewelry
And after every show
You look at yourself
and say
Chorus
“I can
I can be the jester
Life will
Life will get much better
I can
I can be the jester
This can’t
This can’t last forever”
Oh poor jester
How foolish is she?
Oh poor Jester
Poor jester
Body 2:
Oh looks like your jokes weren’t
Funny this time
Locked in a cell
You say “I need more time”
The king says you have one chance
And if you don’t please him
He’ll have your head
Crying
You’re crying
But tell yourself it’s not that bad
And tell yourself that
Chorus
Bridge:
The jokes didn’t clear her name
So she’s in shackles and chains
Guards lead her to the guillotine
Say your final words and pray
X2
And she says to herself
“I can’t
I can’t be the jester
Life won’t
Life won’t get much better
I can’t
I can’t be the jester
This can’t
This can’t last forever”
Oh poor jester
How foolish is she?
Oh poor jester
Oh poor jester
Oh poor jester
If you've ever felt like you had to pretend to be someone your not to please somebody else, you'll relate. I wrote this song in December of 2020. Lmk in the comments what you think!
