Of all the time we laughed

Was that not enough?

We loved together, cried together

I knew you were the one

You said you’d never leave me

I gave you all my trust

You held my heart so deeply

For you were the one I loved

The day I learned the truth

The love I fed to you

Came pouring out in streams

Rain sliding down a roof

I gave you everything

You couldn’t keep it true

You stabbed me in the back while smiling at my shoes

I know it’s not your fault

And I finally feel better

Do you love me still?

Yes, I know you do

And a small part of me will always belong to you

Yours to hold, yours to keep

Mine to mourn, mine to weep

Yours to love, yours to cherish

Mine to remember, though you’ve perished

But now I must move on

Since I know you’d want me to

This might be my last visit but I’ll always think of you

Thank you for the laughs, for the love, the good times

These are the moments that I’ll never leave behind

I won't forget our memories, all which I have saved

A gentle tear rolls down my cheek

I place the flowers on your grave

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece when a death happened in our school, thousands were mourning the loss of a sweet girl. I never personally knew her, although my friends did. Still, the pain of losing someone is not unfamiliar to me, and I wanted to channel that pain into an art, to turn this bitter moment into something more bittersweet, to alleviate some of the pain brought by death.
