Hamilton Rap
A lawyer, a soldier, a statesman,
The first Secretary of the Treasury of this nation.
A federalist, a proponent of strong central government,
A genius who left this young country in wonderment.
He was born in the British West Indies,
A man who never even made it to his sixties.
He was lifted from St. Croix by his boss named Nick Cruger,
He was given a chance for a much brighter future.
In King’s College he received his tutelage,
He became interested in politics, just a smidge.
When war started he soon became involved,
His great love for his country quickly evolved.
He moved to New York and became a good lawyer,
Then he became a delegate and quite the annoyer.
He wrote and distributed The Federalist Papers,
Much to the bane of his antifederalist haters.
He designed and created the treasury department,
Granting taxes to be amassed with the people’s consent.
He created a national debt,
We would unite to pay it he bet.
He instituted the Bank of the US,
Much to Thomas Jefferson’s distress.
The way he acted put Burr in a pout,
They decided they would duel it all out.
He was kind so he decided to miss,
But Burr didn’t think that he would do this.
So who is the one who rose quickly to fame?
Alexander Hamilton is the man’s name.
