You take my hand

Shade my eyes

Twirl me in the night

We dance across the stage

The stage you made

You pull me towards you

Away from life

You make my head

A scrambled mess

I can't think straight

I forget myself

All i have is this

Your arms cradle me

Cage me

Rocking back and forth

Time passes in a blur

Till suddenly you twirl me

Your hand leaves mine

I’m blinded

Life jostles me

All I want is to cry

Yet I realize

It was never true

Only a masquerade dance.

The author's comments:

This was written after a bad breakup. I was in an abusive relationship where they constantly threatened to hurt themselves. Of course, it wasn't like that before or when we started dating. I usually write poetry about my emotions and this is one of those pieces. I know it's not Shakespeare but I happen to like it. I hope you enjoy.
