The Devils Merry-Go-Round
Once upon a time
I knew a girl
Forced down so many paths
She was lost in the world
A mother like a ghost
A father always gone
Staring into midnight
With not a sighn of dawn
So tired of her parents games
And tired of the strife
This girl i knew was hell bent
To ruin her own life
She turned to boys and substances
To bring her from her slum
She knew the dangers they intailed
But they made the girl feel numb
It started out so innocent
A way to mask the pain
Then changed so quick she couldnt see
The demon she became
She forgot about her family
And forgot about her life
When her fix could not be reached
The girl turned to a knife
The scars she made upon her skin
Were left without a sound
Within the endless circle
Of the divils merry-go-round
Out of body, out of mind
Back against the wall
The faster that she span and span
The faster she did fall
After countless nights of party lights
The girl knew this was wrong
A life inside the devils fair
Is not where she belonged
There is one way to end the ride
That way is to jump
But this girl did not fear falling down
She feared to stand back up
She closed her eyes, held her breathe
And made a straight nosed dive
Then felt the ground upon her face
And knew she was alive
This girl was brave and strong enough
To stand up from her fall
But should you choose to take a ride
Would you try at all?
So go ahead and take a step
Upon the devils track
But know, this is no carousel
And you may not make it back
