Deprivation

Raven hair glowing
Dancing to a silent tune
Beauty I can't hold

I am not allowed
She will not be with me
If she does we die

This city binds me
The women here have no sound
We should not be hushed

There are many rules
Only wear the uniform
Keep your hair up high

Always have a smile
The last is mainly the worst
Always obey men

Under weights I tire
But they will not ever break
Because I have love

I watch as she leaves
Dragged by controlling men
They are the disgrace

If I do not stand
That is no longer a choice
They will hear my cry

So I walk alone
With every woman at hand
I won't yield again

This poem is inspired by The handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood which emphasizes that the LGBTQ community and females are being suppressed and this will lead to future problems where eventually it won't be just shamed but outlawed.
