Is there anything
in this world than can deaden
the pain of sorrow—

and masquerade the
jagged scars left by remorse
and regret—and

numb the migraines caused
by fickle love? If not, I’ll
have Scotch…on the rocks.

Drinking doesn't take away problems. It only adds more.

HELLO, WINSCONSIN! Thank you, brah, for sharing that with me and everyone else. I appreciate your reading this poem and commenting on it. I'm flattered that Krasota wrote a poem inspired by this poem. As long as you're sober and I'm sober—WE'RE ALL ALRIGHT, WE'RE ALL ALRIGHT!

The more control you have over yourself, the less control others have over you.

Hello Wisconsin! I mean.. Mckay! Well, you know Krasota wrote a poem inspired by this one, so I decided I should check this one out. Your author's comment is as brilliant as the poem. My grandfather was an alcoholic (sober for 20 years now) and I know from what my mom has said about how he was that I don't ever want to feel that I need to drink away my problems. And it makes me sad that some people do feel that way and even sadder that some people can't stop feeling that way. But you truly did an exceptional job with this poem.. this was not one to be dragged out or exaggerated.. it only needed a few lines, a bit like some people who drink, they only need a few minutes to make an inane decision like up and deciding that drinking will help them out, nothing to drag out, just a quick decision. Ya know what I'm saying? I love the fact that you used the word fickle! And like always, the ending is well done, my friend!

THANK. YOU. That's what I'm sayin'. If you want to drown your sorrows away with happiness, you won't find it in the bottom of a bottle. Great job!
