Exactly, this poem wasn't to diminish the heroics of soldiers in war, but that war itself is not heroic or anything.  It's glorified so men join the army.  I feel like their lives are cut short and the time they lost was wasted, when they could've been so much more than a soldier.

Ha ha, I love that comment! And the haiku, of course. It really captured the brokenness of war, the falsity of it. I'm proud of your excellent pacifism.

I think a lot of the guys who go off to war are really brave, but it's a pity their courage is used in such a way.
