The Ones Always Left Behind
The smiles stay and last forever
To be a part of a group of friends
People that we can depend on whenever
To make everyone smile is always our task
We don’t want anyone sad, we’ll always have your back
We don't want you to worry, we don’t want to bother, so we slip on our mask
Our goal is to help out and do our best to make everyone’s day
But this burden is a heavy one and one to do alone
We do all these things for you, we want to tell you we’re sad too but we won’t say
So we continue to give you our all, give you our time, give you our love
Please don’t worry we’ll be fine, how are you? Are you okay?
It’s an honor to hold you up, so we’ll be here till you spread your wings and fly above
But making everyone smile and making them happy...
Sometimes it hurts to see them smile while your down
But it'll be fine and we’ll make sure of that, although it does sound sappy
Who are we kidding? Why are we hiding?
To make everyone pleased while we’re left alone...it isn’t right!
Can’t you see our struggle? Can’t you see we’re trying
We try to do our best no matter what! But why are we always the ones left in the muck?!
Can’t you see our pain? Please just hug me and tell me it’s okay!
You’ll always have a shoulder to cry on but what about us? can’t you see we’re stuck?
Put our earbuds in, why do we have to walk down these hallways with fake faces?
We thought you were our friends…we thought we could trust you
Can’t you see that we’re sensitive and fragile? with a hard push, we break like vases
We’ll always put you first, we always put you ahead
But you leave us alone, but we’re too shy to speak up
So we stay quiet and after a long day of work we cry in our bed
We tuck our faces into our pillows, we always ask why, the answer we always thirst to find
No one asks if we’re okay, but we’ll be fine, trust us this happens all the time
We know this story all too well...we know we’ll always be the ones left behind

In life, I've always have tried my best to make everyone else happy because it made me happy to do that much good. However, I would be lying if I said I've never been used this way but I'm learning how to get rid of the toxic people in life and you're not the only one who feels alone. Let's stand up for ourselves and lets no longer be names "The Ones Left Behind"
