I Hear America Screaming
I wish I could speak of something decent.
But I can’t.
Nothing seems to matter anymore.
Vicious threats endangering many.
Society moving further backwards.
And all the while,
I hear America screaming.
I would love to remain positive here.
But I can’t.
It feels far too daunting to attempt.
Uncertainty raising multitudinous fears.
Historical failures resonating throughout.
And all the while,
I hear America screaming.
Somehow, we manage to cling to hope
We still try.
We can stay strong as one.
People doing good work.
Providing to the needy.
Yet all the while,
I hear America screaming.
If only.
If only we could support one another.
Maybe.
Just maybe.
We can make it through together.
