Don&rsquo;t judge my story by the chapter you walked in on. <br /> - Tobymac

Mother’s has been digging a hole
Since September
though snow
It has been quite cold

How much more of this can we take?

We know you’re coming
We’ve heard the news

How much more of this can we take?

I’ve seen your picture
I’ve heard your name
- Adolf, My father
why do you run away
and treat us this way?

How much more of this can we take?

We know you’re coming
We’ve heard the news

How much more of this can we take?

Mother hastens
The hole is complete
With the chicken coop underneath

I hate to see her like this
Running down an extensively Long list

And be so panicked of this

How much more of this can we take?

She each kisses us goodbye
Then she tosses us in the hole
And she whispers
Make no moves
Or they’ll be your last

How much more of this can we take?

I huddle together with my baby brother
With my hand over his mouth
Surrounded by bread and blankets

I peak my head out to see an army
Of thousands big enough to block out the sun
How much more of this can we take?

Look to see a man with a big mustache

Slashing his sword through the snow

And mother on her knees
saying Wait Adolf!
Then the man slashed her sides
And there she lie

I duck back down
And about to cry

How much more of this can we take?

We know you’re coming
We’ve heard the news
Your army is here
And we’ve got the blues

How much more of this can we take of
Adolf Mein Hitler?

The author's comments:

This WWII poem is a fictional work that tells a story line of Hitler running away to start  WWII, leaving a wife and children behind and his return of him and his army trekking through a snowy and unforgiving January. The narrative poem is told though the eyes of his oldest child. The poor child is in the mist WWII.
