In my mind, I keep that night in a golden frame
There I can see it so vividly through its protection, back when you were my protection
It was another night, I recall it being a Thursday
Along with the sound of the rain hitting the roof, I surrendered to vulnerability without doubt or concern
A series of loss and despair became my battles, and the life I once lived had vanished into debris
Still I stayed optimistic because I  hadn't lost you
My love, my shelter
You hadn’t abandoned me
I remember holding onto you that night, my intuition begging me not to let go
"Let me have my moment" I told you, not understanding why I spoke the way I did
I held on just a little bit longer
An older version of myself would come to discover that was our final night
Young and in love
Like all things, you went with the rain
Washed up in the sparkling pavement, until the streets were dull again
Our golden days had passed
After that, nothing was ever the same

I have to tell you this poem is so great! It's a great read because individuals can relate to your words and how you shared a personal thing that happens so often.
