If I Were Human

I thought I was human,
But I’m not really sure.
I have the necessary parts,
But I’m missing something.
People laugh,
But I never see the joke.
They gather together,
But I need to stay apart.
They breathe the same air,
But no one else notices
The salty aftertaste
Beneath the fog of being human.
