I’m Sorry
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my pretty little lips sealed as if tsunamis would come flooding from them otherwise.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry I forgot about our pinky swear,
And now you think I don’t care
And the guilt is more than I can even bear.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry somewhere between passing crinkled notes across the room and letting secrets dance through the air, our own needs got the best of us.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry that I stomped on our trust
Until it became nothing but rust
Despite all the promises we discussed.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry I’m not an angel whose presence alone causes crowds to form, just to catch the radiance of her glorious name.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry for being human and making a mistake
And that that alone is apparently enough to break
Everything we had, for God’s sake
We were inseparable,
Until I put it all at stake
And will forever have to deal with the ache.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough for you.
