Just a Number
My science teacher once told me,
“We’re just numbers.”
And I thought,
‘what does that mean?
How am I a number.’
And I realized, she was right.
What am I?
A number.
Just a number.
Just the difference between
a 90 and a 80 on your exam
makes you smart or dumb.
Just the difference between
a size 5 and a size 4
make you fat or skinny.
Just the difference between
age 20 and age 21
allows you to drink.
Just the difference between
a 200k and a 100k on social media
makes you popular or just a nobody.
Or, just look on your phone.
Scroll down your contacts list.
What am I there?
Just a number.
