we live in a world of blinking signs and flashing lights
words unsaid and things undone
laces tied and eyes wide shut
tears undried and porcelain smiles
candles blown and fears unconquered
love concealed and hearts unhealed
books unread and trips not taken
thoughts suppressed and memories forgotten
abandoned sunsets and weakened shoulders
masks cracking and covers blown
stories untold and lies unraveled
burning throats and silence that screams
plastic flowers and herds of sheep
are you really living?
or simply existing
in our world of blinking signs
flashing lights
words unsaid
and things undone
