Frosting Lake
You sit in the center of the lake,
Afloat in your peaceful
Kayak
Alone, sitting with your
thoughts
As you look to the sky,
A storm comes in
Freezing the peacefulness
Of the deep blue
Lake you call your home
Ice cold winds pierce
Through your tough skin
Shifting your boat and
Blowing you
Farther and
Farther
Away
Pushing you up against
The shore with
Every cold shove of air
Telling you to get out
The gust of an ice plated stranger
Pushes you up
And out of your home,
Making you stumble in
The burning cold
Water on the edge of your
Border
Stepping out in the snow,
You feel out of place with
Hearing your footsteps as you
Sink farther and
Farther
Into a world that is not
Your own
