Left Behind
I’d been running
For so, so long
To catch up to them
Before they were gone
I took a bad fall
But they didn’t see
While I lied helpless
They continued with ease
By the time I got up
They were barely in sight
But I stood up and ran
With all my might
But as I trotted along
With my mind I fought
As to why they left me
Without a second thought
While I used all my strength
To make my way back
While I struggled and strived
Like a maniac
They didn’t stop when I fell
And hadn’t stopped since then
They’d gone on without me
Again and again
So for the first time
I let my feet slow
And watched them run
And let them go
I was all alone
And was left behind
But for once in my life
I really didn’t mind
While I sat and watched
They went on
And I stood there at peace
Until they were gone
