Radiant Rhythm
Five dull hours scrunched in a car
Anxious for this unknown culture...
Different words, different thoughts…
An aroma of unity
Courses through misty autumn air
Dakotas with Menominees
Ojibwes with Winnebagos
A colorful blend of beliefs
Hearts keep pace with the beating drums
Ba doom da boom ba doom da boom
Not one ignores the ancient beat
“We celebrate!” Shakes, spins, and skips
Chants, flutes, laughs spell togetherness
A colorful blend of beliefs
Seven tribal flags are no less
Than the stars and stripes on this night
“We are one!” Brothers and sisters
With different blood, yet shared spirits
Lifetimes of separation need
One day for friendships and oneness
A colorful blend of beliefs
Friendships renewed and new ones formed
This culture will never wither
Not just a page in a textbook.
Distant memories no longer
