Sense of wonder
It was the perfect fall day,
Cool and breezy.
We were determined to get to the top,
Though it wasn’t going to be easy.
The leaves crunched under our feet,
And rain started to fall.
It wasn’t supposed to last,
So we waited under the balcony.
The sun glared in our eyes not long after,
And a rainbow formed over our heads.
We could see the peak in the near distance,
So we started to walk faster.
10 minutes later, we had reached the bottom of the stairs.
Many people had the same idea as us that day,
The path was packed with people.
We ran up the stairs as quickly as we could,
And finally got there.
Through the faint fog,
You could see for miles in the distance.
