Summer
When we were five
We played outside
In the rain and mud,
Running through fields of wildflowers,
And catching frogs by the pond.
When we were ten
We sat by the fire
Smelling the smoke,
Creating s’mores,
Fingers sticky with marshmallow.
When we were fifteen
We stayed inside
Watching movies,
Reading books,
And playing board games.
Last summer
I sat alone
Looking at the rain,
Staying inside,
Missing you.
