A Knock at the Door
A knock at the door
And my heart starts to race
Just the thought of you
and your smiling face
The nights are the greatest
But the mornings I dread
Because when I wake up
It’s just me in my bed
It's never unexpected
it’s happened countless times before
but that's never stopped me
from reopening the door
Again and again
I sit waiting for you
But to what extent
could I ignore what I knew
If your not going to stay
Don’t knock on my door
My ripped apart heart
can’t take it anymore
You can’t make up your mind
So now it’s my turn
Yet still to this day
For the knock I yearn

Inspired by my dog Benji, who constantly scratches at my door until I let him in. Only after a few minutes he leaves again, and then does it again a while later.
