Fireworks are for the Fourth
It’s hard to find a glove that fits
I wish I knew true love as soon as it hits
The lights above me,
Oh how they burst and spin and twist and turn
Except it takes so many lessons for me to finally learn
And the consequences,
Oh How they burn
I looked into your eyes and knew “ here comes the kiss”
Here comes the undying bliss,
The thing that I’ve missed
But our love wasn’t as good as the game we were watching
Our love was a loss
Intertwining with the fireworks above us
Crisscross
And that’s when I knew our sparks wouldn’t work
And that fireworks were only for the Fourth

A summer love inspired me to write this poem. Speaking my mind over verses always helps me cope with the feelings I'm dealing with. I hope that girls specifically will read my poem and understand that they are not alone when a love falls apart.
