Bitter Nicotine
The bitter smell of nicotine stained your skin
And crept into your glass lungs
You welcomed the pure poison more than I
As you inhaled the worst the world could offer,
and now I’m left embracing someone else
Because like the smoke
you lingered for a split second
And then
the wind took you.
