Perseverance MAG
you may compress my soul
with blues and greens –
straighten it out on cloth fibers
entwine my ambitions
with the strands of my dreams and
fill the spaces between my fingers with stars
yet,
when I breathe, I shall fill my insides
with the agony of the moonlight
fumble with kite strings
an entanglement of the sinews of my heart
and when you stitch me up
those open wounds of emotion
my agony exposed
you shall try and sew me up again
my blue green soul spread out
woven into the fibers, and entwined
with the strands of my dreams
your needle will tug at my thread
my soul shall shift
the strands of my dreams will now
cling tighter
but I shall not wince
