Hourglass
No one ever thinks about
The first grain of sand
To grace the bottom of
An hourglass.
Who wants to discuss
The beginning anyways?
It’s always been about
The ending, hasn’t it?
We don’t walk into High
School to experience our
First day of High School.
We do it for graduation.
We sign up for theater not
For the rehearsals but
For the performance.
For the triumph.
Football games are for
Victory cries and
Homecoming is for
King and Queen,
At least that’s how it seems,
We all we ever focus on
Is how much sand is left
And not what’s currently
Falling.
