an ending at the beginning
the last time I kissed you, you tasted of new beginnings
we had just poured our souls out to each other and as I turned to leave you grabbed my arm to turn me around and pulled my face to yours
when you pressed your lips to mine with your hand on my cheek it felt like a moment fit for the movies
that kiss was tinged with electricity and excitement that you can only feel when you’re this young and on the precipice of greatness
even as I walked away your lips left me filled me with optimism for time spent with you that would never come to fruition
when we kissed it felt like the beginning of something so magical that I never in a million years could’ve guessed would be the last time that our lips would meet
it’s hard for me to see how the boy that kissed me that afternoon could walk away from all the possibility and lilac scented memories that layed ahead of us
I guess she held brighter “what ifs” for you than I could ever imagine

I think it's best to let the poetry speak for itself. Like most great poems this was inspired by heartbreak.
