The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Her hips sway from Brazil to China,
yet the defeminization of even
the dress that lies upon them
turned the choice to turn down the Path of Fiasco
into really a choice at all,
so she demanded ransom for kidnapped hearts,
recycling thoughts that never seem to stay in the past.

The drawback of her smile was that
her musical laugh fooled even the sirens.

At what point do we blame a child
for the teachings of their parents?

"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light." -Plato

That was SO GOOD. You had beautiful and creative imagery that was full of symbolism. I especially loved your stanza "The drawback of her smile was that her musical laugh fooled even the sirens."
